Paula Cushing
Wednesday, March 20th, 12:15 – 1:15 p.m., Lunchtime Lecture: Paula is giving a free lecture in Ricketson Auditorium on the west side of the DenverMuseum of Nature & Science. Paula will be talking about her research on arachnids in the order Solifugae.
Spider Biology Class, May 14th, 16th, 21st, and 23rd, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and May 18th, 1 – 5 p.m.: Calling all arachnophiles! Paula Cushing will be teaching a class at the Museum about spider evolution, natural history, behavior, and morphology. This is an excellent way for you to get more involved with the Colorado Spider Survey. Class participants will be certified to take part in the project and to volunteer in the arachnology collection at the Museum. The class includes a Saturday field trip. The cost is $150 for Museum members and $180 for non-members. However, Paula is trying to arrange a discount for students. Fieldwork, June 6th – 10th: Paula and her field team will be traveling to Great BasinNational Park in Nevada to do some fieldwork for solifuges. If you have taken a CSS training workshop or Spider Biology class and if you have the time and are interested in joining us, contact Paula.
Great Basin BioBlitz, July 7th – 10th: Paula will be leading the 2013 Arachnid BioBlitz at Great BasinNational Park. The BioBlitz will include workshops, night collecting hikes, programs for kids and families, opportunities for arachnologists and entomologists to share ideas, and more. Paula and her crew will be traveling to Nevada to participate in this event. CSS participants who are interested can contact Paula to join her and her team.
