PERMANENT ROAD CLOSURE
Beginning Monday, June 6, 2011, the stretch of
City Park Road between Montview and 17th Avenue will be permanently
closed by Denver Parks and Recreation. This stretch of road will be
used for construction vehicles from August 2011 through summer 2013
during the construction of the Museum's Education and Collections
Facility. It will then be demolished and re-landscaped in Summer
2013, creating a large meadow in the southeast corner of City Park.
Denver Parks and Recreation is working in partnership with the
Denver Museum of Nature & Science to coordinate and communicate
this change.
SCHOOL ENTRANCE RELOCATION
Beginning Monday, June 6, 2011, the School
Entrance will move from the south side to the east side of the
Museum to prepare for construction of the new Education and
Collections Facility. School buses will load and unload on the east
side near the Phipps IMAX Theater outside entrance. School buses
that are remaining on site are to park North of the Museum and City
Park Baseball fields. This bus lot can be accessed via 23rd Ave.
The existing bus drop-off circle and the road that runs south
through City Park to 17th Avenue will be closed as
well. An updated bus map can be found
here.
TEMPORARY CLOSURES
The Museum will be updating its fire detection and suppression
systems requiring some halls to be temporarily closed. These
improvements to our 100-year-old building are thanks to Denver
voters and the Better Denver Bond Program.
