The film blends cinematic visits to the island nation of Madagascar, the world's tallest sand dunes in the Namib Desert, and the Okavango Delta of Botswana into one adventure. Also featured are the enormous blue icebergs of Greenland, the ancient grandeur of Tibet's Chang Tang Plateau, South America's stunning Iguazu Falls, and the Amazon River. The film is narrated by STAR TREK®: Deep Space Nine television star Avery Brooks. The film story of The Greatest Places begins 250 million years ago, when the planet's "super continent" began splitting apart, unleashing the forces of tectonics, wind, water, and glaciers, all of which greatly affect the places to this day. The seven locations, judged to be some of Earth's most geographically dynamic landscapes, are shown in their maximum power and beauty, whether it be their land forms, diverse wildlife, ecosystems, or their indigenous cultures and people. The Greatest Places will be showing at the Denver Museum of Natural History's IMAX® Theater from October 9 to February 11. Visit The Greatest Places Web site at www.greatestplaces.org |
