Surface Water
This map shows the locations of major river systems in the Denver Basin.
 
Bedrock Geology
This Denver Basin geology map shows the older bedrock geology that underlies the younger surface deposits of the basin. The Pierre Shale is the oldest and lowest layer upon which all succeeding layers of sedimentary and igneous rocks lie.
 

Surficial Geology
This Denver Basin geology map shows the locations of younger surface deposits on top of older bedrock geology.Younger deposits consist of recent river gravels and alluviums (deposited by flowing water) and Ice Age eolian (wind blown), Ice Age alluvium, and glacial drift materials.
