Near Anatuvuk Pass on the Brooks Range, the Canad lynx and gray wolf roam the countryside. On the Alaska Range, north of Anchorage, wolverines are frequent inhabitants. Heading up the arctic slope toward Canada, caribou and ptarmigan can be seen making their homes in the tundra.

Mount McKinley's high-altitude atmosphere is a perfect home for Dall sheep, while mountain goats thrive on the Harding Icefield on Kenai Peninsula. On Ellesmere Island, the hardy musk ox is a common sight.

So if you're heading north to Alaska, prepare to take in the beauty of these arctic beasts.
